Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
