Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 and the Day of Judgment will inevitably take place. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 They slept very little during the night 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
