Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 Little of the night would they slumber, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
