Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
