Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
