Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 and the partitioners, 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
