Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
