Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 Verily that wherewith ye are threatened is surely true. 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 You are indeed in different opinions regarding this Qur’an. 8 Let whoever wishes, turn away from Our Quran. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
