Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. 23
