Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
