Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 And those that glide with ease (upon the sea) 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23
