Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
