Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 and the burden-bearers 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 Little of the night would they slumber, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
