Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!" 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
