Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in Thamud's also was a lesson, when it was said unto them: enjoy yourselves for a season. 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
