Did the news of Ibrahim’s honourable guests reach you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him)? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
