Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
