Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
