Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
