Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 And placed it before them.. he said, "Will ye not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 (Sarah) his wife came with an exclamation and clasped her face, and said: 'Surely, I am a barren old woman' 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
