Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ He said: What is your affair then, O apostles! 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed. 46
