Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
