Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
