Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
