Has there come to you information about the honored guests of Ibrahim? 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!" 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
