Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
