Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
