Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
