Did the news of Ibrahim’s honourable guests reach you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him)? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
