Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
