Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 And in Moosa, when We sent him with a clear proof towards Firaun. 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
