Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 (Sarah) his wife came with an exclamation and clasped her face, and said: 'Surely, I am a barren old woman' 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
