Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: "Even so says your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 The Pharaoh and his forces turned away from him, saying, "He is either a magician or an insane person". 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
