Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
