(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
