Did the news of Ibrahim’s honourable guests reach you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him)? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
