Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
