The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the Visited House, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
