The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 By the House Frequented. 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and the sea swarming, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
