The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
