The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 and by the Book in lines 2 On an open record. 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
