The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 and a Book inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the Visited House, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
