The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 By the House Frequented. 4 The roof raised high, 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
