Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 by the Visited House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the swollen sea 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
