The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 The roof raised high, 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
