The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 by the House inhabited 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
