The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
