The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
