The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
