The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
